Edward Shum, an American Chinese, graduated with honor in Computer Science (BS Cum Laude) from UCLA in 1982.

In the year 1983, he continued his study in UCLA in Computer Science majoring in Computer Network and Distributed Processing. During this period of time, he studied under Professor Algirdas Avizienis and Professor Leonard Kleinrock. Professor Algirdas Avizienis is the leading expert in the area of Computer Fault Tolerance and Professor Leonard Kleinrock is the leading figure for founding the Internet exploration and with his leadership, UCLA is the world first node for the Arpanet, which is, to become today’s World Wide Web or the Internet.

After his graduation, Mr. Edward Shum worked for Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) as a full time technical staff through 1987. In JPL, he was involved in numerous cutting edge projects in the area of space exploration and other key projects including Deep Space Networking, Information Network System, Distributed Processing in C3 System, and Computer Fault Tolerance in Distributed Processing.

Mr. Edward Shum started his entrepreneurship in 1988. During this period of time, he had developed numerous application softwares for office automations, sales, inventory and accounting etc. In 1989, he invented SMA, the Scalable Modular Architecture that effected PC industry in the PC hardware design. With that achievement, he was nominated to be listed in the Who’s Who Worldwide in 1994.

In 1999, Mr. Edward Shum was invited to head a research team for Beijing Multimedia Networking Laboratory. >From that position, he helped Beijing to deployed the first broadband access network, utilize HFC technology. He subsequently was in charge of many national 863 research projects in the area of broadband access for Internet.

Since then Mr. Shum focuses an intense effort on the NGN, the Next Generation Network study as his vision leads him to believe that the next wave of gold rush will be within the scope of NGN. In 2004, Mr. Edward Shum started the implementation of his long planed mission. He develops the Eli IT governance Platform as the key product for the application of the NGN, utilizing his new invention: the Command, Control, Communication, Cooperation and Completeness Scheme,

In year 2007, Mr. Edward Shum accepted BTC Consultant Company’s offer to become our honor technical consultant and a company director.
