II. Project Background
The prospecting area covers 469.8 km2. Inspection work in oil, mine, coal and metallurgy sectors had began since 1955. The department had confirmed the neighborhood of Ma Wu fractured tectonic belt Ji and the south of the QingSui River fractured zone are the favorable potential area that bear oil.
Since oil and gas in the tremendously thick marine Mesozoic-Paleozoic oil source rock is also a source of the continental Mesozoic-Paleozoic oil, The potential area of oil and the coverage are larger and more promising. The State Department had approved that this area was in the list of front-end oil and gas ready-for-exploration area in the South of China. In February 1999, Jiangsu Oil Prospecting Bureau passed the approval of registering and obtained the oil-prospecting license from the National Resource Department.

Inspection of 1/200,000 of Regional geological is completed for oil field prospecting.General inspection of 17 shallow wells and 1 deep well are also completed. The footage drilled is15837.82M in total (including WnagJiang and WuWei basin). 1/50,000 of high precision aero-magnet, 144.12KM of stimulant earthquake section, a electromagnetic deep-measure section crossing NanLing and WuWei, a electromagnetic deep-measure section in NanLing and WuWei basin, 9 petroleum weak-exploited sections.
