Project Background: The effective ingredients of the kudzu for medicinal uses include Puerarin, Puerarin Xylose, bean flavones, an isoflavone, and arachidonic acid, most of which are isoflavones . Puerarin is the main choice to cure the diseases of heart and blood vessel. The root of the kudzu also includes 20 percent starch, amino acids and microelements, so it is one of the health care food materials.

Project Content and Scale:The project plans to establish 333 ha.The annual production can reach 100 tons of 40% flavones and 34 tons of 60-98% flavones.

Investment Estimation:The total investment of the project is 42,000,000 Yuan (about 5,060,000 dollars).

Mode of cooperation:Joint venture or solely-owned.

Market Analysis:In recent years, the medical uses and function in healthy care of the kudzu are gradually acknowledged. The deep processing products have the broad market potentials. The root of kudzu and its products are widely used in the following area: A. Medicine: Injection liquid, capsule, instant powder, and tablets etc. B. Food and healthy care Products: powder, cream, jelly, juice and crystal etc. C. Light Industry: The surface cellulose of the root can be used as the raw materials of paper and textile production. The textile products have the high strength.

Project Conditions:A. Fine Ecological Conditions. The project area is located at subtropical and mild monsoon zone with rich resources of sunshine, water and heat energy. B. Fine Social and Economic Conditions. The project area has fine infrastructure conditions, normal electrical supply and rich labor resources. C. Fine Production Technologies. The project unit has cultivated and developed the wild kudzu and has formed a series of successful cultivation technologies. At the end of last year, the project of GAP production base of wild kudzu was listed into one of the essential science and technological projects during the Tenth Five Year period by the National Ministry of Science and Technologies and the project was partially financed. The supercritical CO2 extracting equipments in the Science and Technology Zone of Biological Medicinal Industry can be used to further develop and utilize the root of kudzu.
